2014-2016:  End of Phase I evaluation of Venture FX -- a Methodist community building project in 13 locations in England, Scotland and Wales - Dartford, Cornwall, Edinburgh, N Wales, Sheffield, Exeter, Plymouth, S London, Stoke on Trent, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Cambridge.

 

2010-12:  Collaboration with three other consultancies in major intervention in Ugandan education and farming NGO:  review of governance, programmes, management and staff facilitation to generate strategic plan (Feb-Jun 2012).  Range of humanitarian sector assignments: CBHA after-action review; Facilitation of BOND DRR advocacy planning; Plan International DRM weeklong network residential meeting; CDAC Network 2-day review; Action Against Hunger advocacy team.    

 

Evaluations:  (a) Midterm review of a UK Methodist Church project (Q4 2011). "Vicky’s approach to evaluating a major and expensive mission project allowed important lessons to be learned which enabled us to shape the project most effectively for further development.  Her use of complexity theory provided both a penetrating analysis of the journey to date and also hugely valuable insights for both future direction and our understanding of institutional pressures on the project."  (b) Comic Relief project in child rights, participation and protection, Tamil Nadu, SE India Jan 2010.  The external assessor wrote that the evaluation was “creative, innovative and engaging and should be seen as an example of best practice”; (c) CARE International DFID PPA funded programme to mobilise against sex and gender based violence in Great Lakes countries (April 2008); (d) CARE International DFID PPA funded programme to increase citizen access to healthcare in Malawi (April 2007).

 

Facilitation of strategic thinking and planning processes and theories of change for range of organisations, involving staff and management teams and boards; (e.g CAFOD 2001, ComputerAid International, Ethical Property, Network for Integrity in Reconstruction, Responding to Conflict, Cardinal Hume Centre, Action Against Hunger, Penal Reform International) – oversight of strategic planning as Trustee (Send A Cow) or Chair (International Childcare Trust).

 

Facilitation of peer learning for half a dozen BOND programme managers’ groups (1-2 per year), and for HR Managers of Europe Zone of International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent. Action learning set for directors of small NGOs (2009-10)

 

Design and delivery of 2-day Facilitation Skills Course – for the 20th time ChildHope Sep 2012;  Tearfund, Feb 11; Jan 11 for The Partnering Initiative; previously for ChildHope, CARE International UK, BOND (internally for staff and as featured course), WaterAid and independently.

 

Establishing Communities of Practice:  on Power, Governance and Pastoralism for Oxfam GB in East Africa (2010-12 including three workshops (Nairobi, Arusha, Uganda) and Learning Review (Apr 11); for Action Against Hunger on Advocacy; for CARE IUK on Gender; for CAFOD on HIV.   Consultancy to deliver sustainable change and integrate learning processes into a livelihoods and advocacy programme working with 17,000 farmers in Malawi (Apr 10).  

 

Coaching – around 40 clients:  chief executives and managers at all levels, career. Life and crisis coaching.  Shadow consulting, CVs and interview preparation. BOND mentor on 2010 pilot scheme.  

 

HR support processes:  implementation of appraisal schemes, business partnering, facilitation of grievance/ disciplinary mediations, interview panellist.

Trusteeships:  Trustee of Irish Chaplaincy in Britain (since Jan 2010); Chair of International Childcare Trust (May 2010 - 2015, when charity closed); Trustee of Send A Cow (2006-2009).
